The Madison Homebrewers and Tasters Guild annually assembles a beervana of about 400 different beers from almost 100 craft and regional breweries from throughout the Midwestern states. The Great Taste is the second longest running craft beer festival in North America, second in longevity only to the Great American Beer Festival.
Thousands of loyal Great Taste fans return year after year because they say it's the best beer event all year. Your admission ticket entitles you to an informative festival program, a beautiful commemorative tasting glass (last years was a gold-rimmed German glass with a multicolour festival logo), and--OF COURSE--unlimited two ounce samples from among all the beers offered. All this comes in a relaxed lakefront setting with a view of downtown Madison and the State Capitol.
Brewers offer t-shirts, glassware, and other items for sale. Many of the brewers participate in our celebrity dunk tank for a local charity. Food from area restuarants is also available for sale on the grounds.
The Madison Homebrewers and Tasters Guild is a not-for-profit organization of homebrewers and those who simply enjoy the finished product dedicated to educating the public about quality malt beverages and the ongoing renaissance of real beer. Proceeds from the event benefit Community Radio WORT/89.9FM in Madison.
